We had a beautiful day outside for our Global Day of Prayer. We had prayer led by various ministers in the area, live music, balloon lift-off with prayer requests from the residents and staff who were prayed for. This was a great way to include the residents in our service.
We had refreshments also. God blessed.

During the week, the residents and staff enjoyed a Grandy’s dinner and jam berry nails for all the staff and residents. A fiesta photo booth was also provided.
Residents enjoyed many crafts, an outing to the local Farmhouse restaurant, movies and some delicious fried ice cream.

More than 1,000 Signature staff members registered for the recent Spirituality LearnFEST, a virtual learning conference that encouraged participants to consider the impact of spirituality, if fully activated, in a long-term care environment.
And that number doesn’t even include the many who joined in groups, in offices, breakrooms and wherever there were TVs or computers at Signature centers across 10 states to view the live broadcast. The event featured sessions that tied spirituality to numerous aspects of long-term care and health care, from clinical care to legislative involvement and the impact of spirituality in the workplace.
Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center celebrated “1950s Day” on Elvis’ birthday. The residents requested an Elvis impersonator to perform at Riverside Care. So we took it from there and went on Facebook to locate an impersonator who agreed to perform for our residents.
We planned a 1950s theme and dressed up in 50s attire. We served burgers and fries for lunch like the good ol’ soda shop days. We set up a soda shop table with soda shop cupcakes, coke floats and other treats.
The residents enjoyed this event, and we don’t know if we have ever saw them have this much fun. Elvis closed out the show by singing to our 108-year-old resident with “Love Me Tender.” This resident doesn’t participate in many activities, but she lit up with excitement when Elvis visited.
We are already planning a Hawaiian Luau for the spring or summertime with Elvis as our special guest.
